Still alive....

Well, we survived the first week and a half with a new baby. It was a little crazy. Last week wasn't the best for us, here. Jaxson had his newborn wt/color check last Monday. He was looking a little yellow, so they checked his bili level. It was a whopping 17.1. I was a tad bit concerned over that little number. Dr opted not to admit him, since he was eating really well, and he's pretty alert. So, he was on the bili blanket for a couple of days, and when we checked it again, it had come down to 12.1. Grateful for that. Then, at his 10 day appt on Friday, Dr said he looked fabulous, and there was no need to recheck the bili. Woohoo! So, in the midst of all that, Cory took a trip to the ER with Gabby on Tuesday morning. Monday night, she had a funky little episode of confusion/twitching/wouldn't respond/freak out Mom and Dad. Tuesday morning, she was really hard to wake up, and her legs were so weak, she couldn't walk. She said her legs just felt "tired" and her knee's hurt. Okay. How do you not think the worst? I was sure she had a tumor or something. Turns out, she has strep. No typical strep symptoms, but she had some cold symptoms off and on for the previous 3 weeks. They gave her a shot in the butt, and that crisis was averted as well. Add in some unstable hormones, uncontrolable crying, and feelings that get easily hurt, and you have my fabulous week. Boy, am I glad it's over! I was so lucky to have my Mom here for a few days after Jaxson was born, and also for a few days last week. Thanks, Mom for being here, and thanks Dad, for letting us have her.
The weekend wasn't too bad. We went to Poky on Friday night, so I could go to a baby shower for my Sister in Law, Melanie. It was fun, and I won two prizes! Yea me! The prizes were salon quality hair care products. She had a HUGE basket of shampoos, conditioners, gels, hairsprays etc. to choose from. I thought that was unique, and so fun. And Mel got lots of cute girly presents. We got home late last night, so I skipped church today. Shame on me. I'm still trying to figure out how to balance Jaxson's feeding schedule with getting everyone else, and myself ready. Sadly, our church is at 1:30, and I don't think I could have done it today. I guess I'd better figure it out soon!
On a happier note, Jaxson is a good baby, and the kids are still enjoying him and are still so willing to help out. I really have been blessed with a fabulous little family. And, it's after 9pm and 60 degrees outside. Woohoo for Spring!
